Dr. T. Limanochet Jamir

LL.B., LL.M., Ph.D.

He has been serving as the Principal of City Law College, Dimapur, Nagaland, since January 2023. He holds an LL.B. from City Law College (CLC), Dimapur, an LL.M. from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, and a Ph.D. in Law from The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata. He is also UGC NET-JRF qualified. With over a decade of experience in legal education, he has previously held faculty positions at both Kohima Law College, Kohima, and City Law College, Dimapur

Alongside academics, he has served as Legal Advisor to the Assisi Centre for Integrated Development cum National Domestic Workers Movement, Nagaland Region, Dimapur demonstrating a commitment to community and social development. He is also a founding and national working committee member of the Peoples Commission on Shrinking Democratic Space (PCSDS), India, reflecting his engagement with civil society and advocacy for. democratic rights. He is a member of the Board of Studies in the Department of Law at Nagaland University, contributing to curriculum development and other academic initiatives. Regarding research and publications, he has notable publications, including research on adoption in Naga society, gender perspectives, and constitutional issues such as the Uniform Civil Code vis-à-vis Article 371A. These works have appeared in reputed journals and edited volumes, reflecting expertise in both customary and modern legal frameworks. He has actively participated in and presented papers at conferences, seminars, and workshops at national and international levels, serving as a speaker, panellist, moderator, and resource person. During his degree studies, he was also awarded a certificate of merit for one of his paper presentations at a national seminar.

Topics addressed span women’s rights, constitutional law, migration, and sustainable development, illustrating a broad engagement with contemporary legal issues and advocacy for social justice. Driven by curiosity about the intersection of law and religion, he has completed several certified courses in theology, reflecting a commitment to deepening expertise in both legal and theological domains.

His professional credentials are further enhanced through specialized training and orientation programmes, including professional development for law teachers, advocates, and judges, as well as courses on forced migration and criminal justice. These experiences contribute to a holistic understanding of legal education and practice.
